About ORF: The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) is Austria’s national public broadcaster, producing radio, television, and digital news for audiences in Austria and abroad. Our Washington, D.C. bureau covers U.S. politics, society, culture, and breaking news. We are currently seeking a Part-Time Producer (25 hours per week) based in Washington, DC to support our U.S.-based production team. The ideal candidate is flexible, creative, and prepared to work in a fast-paced news environment.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a comprehensive overview of ongoing projects and assist with long-term planning
Identify compelling story ideas and coordinate interviews and filming schedules
Conduct thorough research and fact-check all content for accuracy
Contribute to daily editorial planning with in-office presence
Support correspondents in their daily work, including conducting short interviews, gathering quotes, and assisting cameramen with basic shots
Handle organizational tasks, including managing event accreditations and coordinating business trips
Follow up on aired stories by distributing links, maintaining contacts, and tracking engagement
Participate in weekly EBU planning meetings via Zoom, gathering information and contributing relevant updates
Develop and grow the office’s social media presence as part of medium-term strategic goals
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in television production
Knowledge of US-politics, culture, and current events
Strong research skills for TV news
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience producing TV news for international audiences
On-camera production or field reporting experience
Knowledge of German is an asset
