    Job Description

    ** Job Duties**

    • Work with newscast directors, creative, promotion and news staff to coordinate production of the newscast
    • Conceptualize stories with story producers, reporters, and talent
    • Critique production, writing and editing of news stories
    • Produce newscasts and other broadcast content in an automated production control environment for all platforms
    • Work with the production team to ensure smooth and seamless productions
    • Work with News Managers and Producers to ensure the most complete local news coverage
    • Work with digital team to incorporate social/mobile/digital content on all platforms
    • Produce linear and digital newscasts
    • Edit news content using non-linear editing equipment
    • Manage the newscast story producers
    • Ensure fairness, accuracy and balance in stories

    ** Qualifications/Requirements**

    • A minimum of 2 years of experience as broadcast Producer
    • Minimum 3 years of experience writing, producing and desktop editing
    • At least 1 year prior news editing experience
    • Demonstrated knowledge of AP style writing and guidelines
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal
    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or equivalent work experience
    • Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required

    Desired Characteristics

    • Excellent news judgment
    • Experience as a Producer in a major market for television, web based news service, or mid-sized market EP
    • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with people while under pressure
    • Knowledge of laws of libel, slander and applicable FCC rules and regulations
    • Ability to work on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast paced environment
    • Ability to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and write intros and leads to video online content
    • Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Positive work ethic and can work under tight deadlines
    • High degree of integrity and professionalism
    • Team player who can also work independently and is a self-starter
    • Solid leadership skills
    • Strong organizational skills

    Additional Requirements
