    Job Purpose: Based in the Atlanta area, the Product Development Merchant plays a tactical, execution-heavy role supporting the Product Development & Merchandising team in developing, sourcing, and bringing to market new physical products for our growing Napa assortment. This position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, is deeply proactive, and can manage multiple complex timelines with precision.

    This role is essential to ensuring on-time, high-quality product launches and requires constant coordination with global vendors, cross-functional partners, and the full product team.

    We are seeking an individual who is highly organized, fast-moving, accountable, and energized by operational problem-solving—someone who anticipates issues before they arise and drives tasks forward without being prompted.

    • Experienced in physical product development, ideally within home décor, consumer goods, or adjacent categories.

    • Highly organized, detail-obsessed, and able to manage multiple seasons and complex workflows simultaneously.
    • Accountable and deadline-driven, with a strong sense of ownership for deliverables and timelines.
    • Effective in vendor management across multiple regions and time zones.
    • Fluent in data analysis, cost calculations, and tracking systems; comfortable managing large datasets with accuracy.
    • A strong written and verbal communicator who can translate information clearly and concisely.
    • Curious about home décor and interior design, with an eye for materials, finishes, and color.
    • A tastemaker ensures Napa product and aesthetic standards are maintained.
    • A collaborative, positive, “go-getter” with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Product Development & Vendor Coordination
    • Manage and update assortment status and product details across a biannual product release cycle complemented by smaller intermittent introductions.
    • Maintain daily communication with agents and factories to drive progress on new product development.
    • Assist in setting cost targets, processing cost quotes, and evaluating product viability; support negotiations as needed.
    • Track all development milestones against launch timelines; proactively identify, flag, and resolve at-risk items.
    • Receive and evaluate product samples for quality, accuracy, and alignment with development specifications.
    • Organize post-trip assets—including images, vendor presentations, and pricing into usable, structured files.
    • Become knowledgeable in vendor capabilities and development strengths across regions.
    • Maintain swatch, material, and finish libraries in the office.
    • Provide tactical support to the Buyer as assigned.
    • Cross-Functional & Seasonal Support.
    • Assist with catalog proofing to ensure 100% accuracy of all new product information.
    • Support showroom setup and execution twice annually.
    • Participate in Sales Meetings, Product Training Meetings, and Trade Shows.
    • Execute special projects and operational tasks that support the broader product roadmap

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Minimum 6+ years of experience in consumer goods product development and/or merchandising
    • Demonstrated experience managing physical product lifecycles, timelines, and vendor communications.
    • Strong proficiency in cost-of-goods (COGS), wholesale/retail pricing structures, and margin analysis.
    • Exceptional ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent seasonal developments.
    • Proven critical thinking, problem-solving, and risk anticipation skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to synthesize and relay information clearly and concisely.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and data-cleaning functions; proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe programs.
    • Strong data accuracy, organization, and documentation skills.
    • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Product Development, Merchandising, Business or related field preferred

    Work Environment, Schedule, and Travel Requirements:

    • This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring the team to be on-site in the Norcross office two weeks per month and remote for the remaining weeks.
    • Must be available to be on-site for incoming product shipments, evaluations, and any off-cycle product development initiatives as needed.
    • Flexibility to adjust on-site presence during urgent development cycles, vendor visits, or product launch prep is expected
    • Willingness to work extended hours and select weekends during peak season, showroom preparation and market (twice annually).
    • Potential for international travel to support sourcing and vendor development trips.

    • Prolonged use of computer involved; use of hands and finger coordination; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. Color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus as needed.
    • During Market periods, standing and walking at showroom for 8-12 hours a day.
    • Lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling).
    • Carrying, Pushing, Pulling boxes and sample orders up to 40 lbs
