Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Finish Line Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for the final finishing wood panel products, surface inspection, and overall quality control. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with finishing systems, UV cured finishing lines, and team management in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Final Wood Inspection: Perform visual and manual inspections of finished wood panels to identify surface defects or imperfections, and trouble shoot accordingly
Surface Finishing: Complete all finishing tasks, including trimming, sanding, polishing, and cleaning panels to meet company quality standards.
Quality Control & Documentation: Ensure all products meet specifications; document quality findings and corrective actions taken.
Operation of UV Finishing Lines: Set up, operate, and monitor UV cure finishing lines, including roll coaters and curtain coaters.
Stain Color Formulation: Mix and apply stains based on required color specs; adjust formulations as needed to match consistency and quality.
Wood and Finish Sanding: Sand wood substrates and applied finishes for smooth, even surface preparation and finish consistency.
Troubleshooting Finishing Issues: Identify and resolve issues related to finishes, adhesion, machine inconsistencies, or material defects.
Production Planning & Supervision: Create and execute daily production plans. Supervise and coordinate a small team (2–4 personnel) to ensure production goals are met efficiently and safely.
Packaging & Final Prep: Label, package, and prepare finished products for shipment or storage according to specifications.
Workplace Organization & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and internal safety standards.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in a wood products manufacturing environment, with a focus on wood finishing
Strong expertise in UV curing systems, stain formulation, and sanding techniques
Hands-on experience with roll coaters, curtain coaters, and other finishing equipment
Proven ability to manage small teams and production workflows
Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, color specs, and production plans
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills (Optional but Beneficial):
Experience in UV cured systems
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
Forklift certification or material handling experience
