    Job Description:

    We are seeking a Product Innovation Engineer for our existing product development team. This position allows you to leverage your product development engineering skills to create innovative products for The Pond Guy and Airmax brands. As we continue expanding, we need an engineer who is ready to grow with us!

    Here are examples of the actual work your day would include:

    • Conceptualize, design, and develop new products, focusing on DFMA and mechanical aspects
    • Support the entire launch team during the launch process as the product subject matter expert, managing gates one through three of a five-gate launch process
    • Review component and assembly drawings for accuracy and provide direction for GD&T
    • Use 3D modeling software, including CAS Design/CAD (SolidWorks) and 3D printer slicers (Cura), for product optimization and development
    • Prototyping product samples for testing and trade shows utilizing available shop equipment, 3D printers, or in coordination with outside vendors
    • Create/document new standards for design validation and product testing
    • Perform specification and design reviews, pre-production builds, and support product hand-off to production
    • Direct/coordinate PLM, manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements
    • Perform detailed tolerance and structural analysis calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications
    • Estimate labor, material, and construction costs for budget preparation
    • Prepare specifications for procurement of materials or equipment
    • In support of ongoing quality management and control, investigate user experience feedback to determine the nature and extent of challenges as directed
    • Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational, safety, and environmental standards
    • Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential mechanical engineering studies or projects
    • Benchmark competitive products

    Job Requirements

    To be successful in this role, you should possess the following knowledge and skills:

    • Minimum 7-10 years product development experience (ex. Product Engineer or R&D/Advanced Engineer)
    • Minimum 2 years experience in developing direct-to-consumer products; guiding them from initial concept through prototyping to successful market launch
    • Knowledge of Engineering Principles and Mechanical Design required
    • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering preferred
    • Computer-Aided Design (CAD) proficiency required (SolidWorks preferred)
    • Familiarity with product data management and GD&T
    • Knowledge of standard terms and techniques used in industrial design and manufacturing
    • Familiarity with injection molding, roto molding, and mold design a plus
    • Familiarity with 3D printing processes a plus
    • Familiarity with machining and fabrication processes a plus

    This position requires manual dexterity for working with small components, the ability to complete repetitive motions for long periods, handling and carrying 25 – 50lb packages, managing packages up to 150lb, and extensive standing and stooping.

    Our Product Innovation Engineer position requires proficient use of a computer system. The candidate should be adept at collaboration and prepared for daily interaction with engineers and other departments (Purchasing, Production, Customer Service, etc.). Organization, follow-up, and communication skills are essential factors in the daily administration of this position.

    We need a Product Innovation Engineer with a positive attitude who doesn’t back down from a challenge. The ideal candidate is resourceful, creative, and ready to get things done.

    Availability

    This onsite position is located at 15425 Chet’s Way, Armada, MI, 48005. The hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
