    Job Description

Versant Media is seeking Product Owners to join our Content and Operations team, supporting the delivery of reliable, scalable, and compliant tools and platforms that power the accurate and timely ingest, fulfillment, scheduling, and distribution of content across platforms and endpoints, while reducing operational friction and enabling sustainable scale.

You’ll serve as a core member of a cross-functional squad, driving solutions that unify asset readiness, scheduling coordination, compliance validation, and multi-platform delivery, while improving transparency, predictability, and execution across dependent teams.

Your work will directly enhance the speed, accuracy, reliability, and scalability of Versant’s content supply chain, supporting a resilient and efficient operating model.
This role is ideal for product thinkers with hands-on experience in media workflows, a systems mindset, and a drive to improve productivity and reduce operational friction through modern, well-aligned technology. The role emphasizes strong cross-team collaboration, clear prioritization, and disciplined execution in support of shared business outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Backlog Ownership: Define, refine, and prioritize product backlog items in alignment with shared business priorities, delivery commitments, and operational outcomes, ensuring focus on the work that delivers the greatest impact.
    • Business Engagement & Alignment: Actively engage with business and operational stakeholders to clarify priorities, surface gaps or ambiguities, and ensure shared understanding of goals, constraints, and delivery expectations, strengthening alignment between business needs and technology execution.
    • Workflow Enablement: Partner with ingest, QC, packaging, scheduling, traffic, playout, and partner management stakeholders to translate operational needs into actionable user stories that reduce friction, improve orchestration, and enable reliable end-to-end delivery.
    • Delivery Execution: Collaborate daily with engineering, design, and QA to support sprint planning, reviews, and execution, driving predictable delivery and clear tradeoffs across scope, capacity, and timelines.
    • Operational Support: Ensure product enhancements support real-world content operations, including SLA monitoring, compliance validation, scheduling accuracy, and delivery-status visibility, with a focus on reliability and operational resilience.
    • System Modernization: Contribute to the transformation from legacy tools to scalable, cloud-native solutions, helping simplify the technology stack and improve long-term maintainability, scalability, and delivery speed.
    • Automation & Intelligence: Help embed intelligent automation into tooling—such as predictive schedule and fulfillment readiness, intelligent QC, metadata validation, and anomaly detection—to improve productivity and reduce manual effort across operational workflows.
    • Documentation & Training: Maintain clear product documentation and support the rollout of new capabilities to operational users, enabling adoption, consistency, and reuse across teams.
    • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Analysts, and other Product Owners to coordinate dependencies, improve transparency, and support seamless execution across interconnected workflows.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in product ownership, product management, or technical project management, ideally supporting operationally critical systems in a media or broadcast environment.
    • Familiarity with content workflows such as ingest, scheduling, playout, metadata packaging, or distribution tooling, with an understanding of real-world operational needs.
    • Strong backlog management skills, including user story writing, refinement, and prioritization to balance run, grow, and improvement work.
    • Proven ability to partner with business and operational stakeholders, translating complex or ambiguous needs into clear, actionable product direction.
    • Experience working in agile delivery environments, collaborating closely with engineering, design, and QA teams to drive consistent execution.
    • Comfort supporting production platforms, with awareness of reliability, incident response, and service-level expectations.
    • Experience using agile tooling such as Jira and Confluence to support transparency, coordination, and follow-through.
    • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with comfort operating within structured planning and delivery cadences.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Hands-on experience across multiple parts of the content supply chain, such as ingest, packaging, scheduling, playout, metadata management, or distribution, with the ability to connect workflows end to end.
    • Experience leveraging AI-powered tools (e.g., LLMs, copilots, intelligent automation) to improve product workflows, such as accelerating story creation, enriching metadata, generating test cases, or identifying product insights.
    • Technical fluency sufficient to engage in solution design discussions, understand tradeoffs, and collaborate effectively with engineering partners on scalable implementations.
    • Experience contributing to platform modernization or simplification efforts, including transitions from legacy systems to more modular or cloud-native architectures.
    • Product or agile certifications (e.g., CSPO, SAFe POPM) or equivalent hands-on experience operating in structured product delivery environments.

    Work Style & Culture

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

    • Are energized by operational systems and real-world constraints.
    • Excel at collaborative delivery with engineers and business partners.
    • Are relentlessly curious and eager to simplify complexity.
    • Care deeply about the reliability of what you ship and how it supports critical workflows.
