    Job Description

    OVERVIEW

    As a Data Product Manager, you will be responsible for driving the strategy, roadmap, and success of SVG’s data products. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of data architects, engineers, BI analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure our data products are robust, accessible, and maximize business value. You will act as a liaison between the business and data/analytics teams to identify problems and clarify requirements, ensuring the delivery of high-value outcomes.

    REPORTS TO

    The Product Manager reports to the Sr. Manager, Product Management.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    The essential duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

    • Own the data product strategy: Deeply understand the data needs of the business and work with data architects and engineers to translate the vision and strategy into feasible data solutions.
    • Enable BI & analytics: Translate complex or ambiguous business questions into clear, detailed, and prioritized data and reporting requirements for analytics teams.
    • Be a data evangelist: Promote the value of data products and the insights derived from them, acting as a champion for data-driven decision-making.
    • Analyze performance: Define and maintain KPIs, track key product metrics, analyze user behavior, and identify areas for improvement.
    • Manage the product roadmap: Create and maintain a prioritized product roadmap that outlines the key outcomes and features required to achieve the data product vision.
    • Define product requirements: Work with delivery teams to translate user needs and business requirements into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria. Own the relationship and integration of 3rd party tools related to assigned products.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams: Communicate effectively with product, design, engineering, BI, and analytics stakeholders to ensure that data products are built, designed, and launched effectively through Agile development processes.
    • Understand the industry: Stay on top of industry trends including new technologies, best practices, AI, and competitive landscapes to ensure data products remain cutting-edge and relevant.
    • Foster a culture of innovation: The Product Manager understands that consistent innovation is the result of each member of the product team contributing their passion and their ideas and fosters a culture in support of that.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    The requirements to fulfill this position are as follows:

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline; or relevant work experience
    • 5+ years relevant work experience
    • Experience with data products and analytics tools such as SQL, Tableau, and Snowflake.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.
    • Knowledge of API integration, data mapping and data warehousing concepts.
    • Demonstrated ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgment to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative.
    • Proficient in understanding a variety of Agile methodologies
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, specifically with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff
    • Agile certifications preferred, not required
