About the Role
****The product owner is responsible for defining and managing the product backlog in order to achieve the desired product team outcomes. The Product Owner connects business stakeholders and development teams, ensuring transparency of the work and its progress. The product owner clearly identifies and describes to the product teams the product backlog items in order to build a shared understanding of customer and stakeholder needs. The product owner makes decisions about the priority and order of the backlog so that teams can deliver value-dense outcomes with minimum output. This role determines if what was delivered is truly working, tested, software that meets the customer's needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage product backlog, ensuring it aligns with product strategy and company objectives.
- Prioritize and order features and user stories with a focus on value-dense software delivery.
- Work closely with engineering team members and stakeholders to ensure high quality delivery of features that meet user requirements.
- Clearly articulate and refine backlog items so they are fully understood appropriately sized, and well-estimated.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and ad hoc workshops, changing requirements to actionable stories.
- Facilitate resolution of risks, issues, and changes related to the product development life cycle.
- Organize large initiatives into clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
- Serve as primary point of contact for stakeholders and act as subject matter expert for the product. Apply a strong customer focus for both external and internal customers.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of proven experience as a product owner or similar product-focused role.
- Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Proficiency with backlog management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Experience incorporating product design into Scrum teams.
- Knowledge of user-centered design and best practices for web usability.
- Skilled at influencing cross-functional teams and driving outcomes without direct authority.
- Embrace a mindset of continuous learning and improvement in software delivery and the product function.
- Ability to sense and adapt in rapidly changing environment while keep the product vision and customer in focus.
