Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Fishing Tackle Buyer to manage the sourcing, purchasing, and inventory strategy across our growing tackle portfolio. The ideal candidate has deep product knowledge, strong vendor negotiation skills, and experience buying within the fishing, sporting goods, or outdoor retail industries.
Responsibilities:
• Source and purchase a wide variety of fishing tackle products: rods, reels, lures, terminal tackle, and accessories.
• Develop and manage relationships with key vendors, manufacturers, and reps.
• Analyze sales trends, customer feedback, and industry developments to forecast demand and plan inventory.
• Attend trade shows and field events to stay current with trends and discover new products.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and warehouse teams to ensure timely product availability and promotions.
• Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, pricing, and product specs in inventory systems.
• Optimize margins through strategic buying and cost negotiation.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years’ experience in purchasing or buying, preferably in fishing tackle or sporting goods.
• Strong knowledge of fishing products, brands, and industry dynamics (freshwater and/or saltwater).
• Proficient in Enterprise Resource Planning systems, Microsoft Excel, and data analysis tools.
• Excellent negotiation, organization, and communication skills.
• Passion for fishing and familiarity with end-user product preferences.
Preferred:
• Experience working with distributors, wholesalers, or multi-channel supply chains.
• Existing relationships with fishing tackle vendors and manufacturers.
• Participation in industry events.
