The Production Associate – Lumber Manufacturing is responsible for supporting production operations within a fast-paced sawmill and lumber manufacturing environment. This is a highly physical position that requires employees to work on their feet throughout the shift while handling, stacking, moving, and processing lumber and wood products in an industrial setting. Candidates must be dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable performing repetitive heavy labor in a demanding production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate sawmill equipment, conveyors, saws, and wood processing machinery
- Lift, stack, sort, and move lumber and wood materials throughout the facility
- Perform repetitive physical tasks including bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials
- Assist with cutting, measuring, and processing wood products to production specifications
- Inspect lumber and finished materials for quality and defects
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times
- Report equipment or mechanical issues to maintenance personnel
- Support shipping, receiving, and general labor operations as needed
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced production setting to meet daily output goals
Qualifications:
- Previous manufacturing, sawmill, construction, landscaping, warehouse, or heavy labor experience preferred
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, twisting, and performing physical labor for extended periods
- Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attendance required
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and industrial equipment
- Mechanical aptitude and forklift experience are a plus
- Team-oriented attitude with the ability to follow directions and work safely
Work Environment:
- Industrial sawmill and lumber manufacturing facility
- Physically demanding environment with continuous movement throughout the shift
- Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and changing temperatures
- PPE required including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots (metatarsal protection encouraged)
