    Production Coordinator Role:

This role exists to bridge the gap between the production schedule and floor reality, ensuring every shift is staged for success, crews are directed safely, and handoffs are flawless.

    Production Coordinator Responsibilities:

    • Stage each shift for success by verifying attendance, confirming skill coverage, and reassigning crew when gaps appear

    • Lead shift huddles to set clear expectations and keep the crew focused on safety, quality, and productivity standards
    • Execute the production schedule built by the Scheduling Specialist and make real-time adjustments to keep operations on track
    • Enforce quality and safety standards on the floor, stopping production and escalating for disposition when violations occur
    • Monitor performance through Vorne dashboards and production data, recording downtime reasons accurately
    • Manage consumable supplies by performing daily floor walks and opening POs for skids, banding, and PPE
    • Facilitate clean handoffs between shifts by conducting face-to-face transitions and updating production boards
    • Coordinate with plant supervisors and the Training Manager to identify skill gaps and support real-time coaching

    Production Coordinator Reporting Relationships:

The Production Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Plant Operations. This role provides direct supervision and leadership to the hourly production crew.

    About You:

    • Possess 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or industrial production
    • Hold at least 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role directly on the production floor
    • Exhibit strong safety instincts with the ability to enforce LOTO, PPE, and machine guarding standards
    • Demonstrate proficiency using ERP systems and production monitoring tools such as OEE dashboards or Vorne
    • Show a proven ability to direct hourly crews by setting consistent expectations and holding team members to standard
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the steel industry, specifically with slitting or coil processing equipment
    • Display organizational skills necessary to manage consumable inventory and visual management systems
    • Act as a clear communicator capable of delivering real-time coaching and performing face-to-face shift transitions
    • Thrive in an on-site, floor-heavy environment requiring constant movement and interaction with machinery
