Overland Park, KS

  • Responsibilities

Our client is a Commercial Landscape Company that services office parks, business campuses, hospitals, and multifamily communities, working with national and regional property managers such as CBRE and Colliers. Expectations are high — properties are visible, flower-heavy, and detail-driven — and client relationships are long-term and contract-based.

    Position Overview

The Production Manager is a critical, hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all field operations and supporting the company’s next phase of growth. This position will work closely with Operations leadership while taking ownership of day-to-day field execution, crew training, scheduling, and workforce development.

This is a field-forward role, ideal for someone who enjoys being with crews, solving operational challenges, and building strong, disciplined teams — not sitting behind a desk all day.

    This hire is immediate.

    Crew & Operational Scope

The Production Manager will oversee approximately:

    • 6 Maintenance (Mow) Crews

    • 4 Landscape Enhancement Crews

    • 2 Chemical Application Crews

    • 2 Irrigation Crews

    • 2 Bed Maintenance Crews

Seasonal staffing fluctuates from ~50 employees in peak season to ~20 in winter, supplemented by subcontractors during winter months.

The role will also support significant hiring and onboarding efforts, with approximately 25 immediate labor hires planned.

    Key Responsibilities

    Field Operations & Leadership

    • Directly supervise all field crews and ensure production standards, safety, and quality expectations are met

    • Serve as the primary field leader responsible for daily execution across a large geographic service area

    • Train, coach, and develop crew leaders and field staff

    • Transition existing Production leadership into a more office-based role by absorbing field training and oversight responsibilities

    Scheduling, Equipment & Resources

    • Coordinate daily and weekly crew scheduling using Aspire

    • Manage equipment allocation, utilization, and readiness across crews

    • Ensure materials, vehicles, and tools are available when needed

    • Monitor job progress and proactively address issues before they impact clients

    Safety, Compliance & Training

    • Enforce all safety policies and ensure weekly safety meetings are conducted

    • Investigate and document incidents and workers’ compensation claims

    • Support H-2B and workforce planning initiatives as applicable

    • Maintain SOPs and ensure compliance with company policies

    Client Support & Quality Control

    • Support Account Managers by ensuring consistent service delivery

    • Conduct site visits on high-visibility properties

    • Maintain the standards required for Class A commercial assets with intensive flower and detail programs

    Administrative & Strategic Support

    • Review job costing and production reports

    • Assist with hiring, performance reviews, discipline, and termination decisions

    • Collaborate with Operations and leadership on budgeting, staffing, and growth initiatives

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    • 8+ years in commercial landscape maintenance operations (production, operations, or field leadership)

    • Proven experience managing multiple crews simultaneously

    • Strong field presence with the ability to lead by example

    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred, but not required

    • Comfortable working with a largely Hispanic workforce

    • Experience with Aspire or similar landscape management software

    • Organized, proactive, and able to operate independently

    • Knowledge of irrigation, chemical programs, and high-end maintenance standards

    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Backgrounds from production, operations, foreman leadership, or adjacent green-industry roles will be considered.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Base Salary: $70,000 – $75,000

    • Bonus: Up to 15% of annual salary

    • Company truck & cell phone

    • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance

    • PTO

    • 401(k) with 100% company match
