Production Manager - Industrial Services - Base Salary to 130k/year - Chesapeake, VA
With over 30 years in the ship repair industry, our client is committed to high quality and customer service. They are looking for a Production Manager to oversee daily operations, making sure projects are completed on time, are met within budget, and have the highest quality standards. The Production Manager leads 4–8 trade managers, 10–30 front-line supervisors, and 50–150 craft personnel across ship repair and industrial production scopes.
Responsibilities:
Lead trade managers, foremen, shop fabrication teams, and craft workforce (20–100+ personnel)
Manage daily production targets, manpower allocation, and work sequencing across trades
Track labor hours vs. budget at the work package and trade level
Maintain alignment with integrated project schedules and milestones
Deliver daily production reporting and performance metrics
Identify and communicate delays, risks, and manpower gaps to leadership
Partner with Planning and Engineering to ensure work packages are production-ready
Coach and develop 3–10 trade managers and front-line supervisors
Provide direct feedback and performance coaching to craft-level teams
Hold leadership accountable for safety, quality, and schedule outcomes
Escalate personnel and performance issues as needed
Identify production risks and implement mitigation plans
Capture and implement lessons learned to improve cycle time and efficiency
Enforce safety standards including WAFs, LOTO, confined space, and hot work protocols
Partner with QA to achieve first-time acceptance on SAT inspections
Collaborate with Safety teams to reduce incidents and improve compliance
Ensure materials, inspections, and prerequisites are ready ahead of execution
Maintain alignment with shipyard and Navy compliance standards
Qualifications:
7+ years of production leadership experience in ship repair, marine construction, or heavy industrial environments
Experience managing multiple trades and front-line supervisors simultaneously
Working knowledge of Navy standards (JFMM, NAVSEA Standard Items)
Experience supporting platforms including DDGs, LHAs, LHDs, LPDs, or aircraft carriers
Proven ability to manage labor tracking, scheduling, and cost control
Experience with scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera, P6) preferred
Compensation:
Base salary in the 100k - 130k/year range plus a discretionary bonus and full benefits.
