  • Responsibilities

    Are you an experienced Baler Operator or Material Handler looking for a new opportunity in a production and manufacturing environment? In this role, you will support manufacturing operations by handling recyclable materials, operating baling equipment, and ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient production floor. You will work under the direction of the Shift Supervisor to support material flow and recycling processes throughout the facility.

    Location: Sandston, VA

    Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
    Must be able to train on both day and night shifts

    Pay Rate: $16.00/hour

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Sort and load paper scrap into automatic and manual baling machines from rolling cages

    • Operate balers following established production, safety, and quality guidelines

    • Operate an industrial forklift to transport scrap paper cages and finished bales

    • Read scales to verify bale weight and accurately document material grade and weight

    • Load baled recyclable materials (corrugated, paper, etc.) onto designated trailers for shipping

    • Load trucks efficiently while maximizing weight limits

    • Notify Accounting Manager when salvage trucks require pickup

    • Notify Supervisor promptly when baling machines require maintenance or repair

    • Empty trash and maintain recycling and production areas

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse, baler room, and recycling storage areas

    • Receive, verify, and stage incoming raw materials

    • Shrink-wrap skids from production machines

    • Retrieve and deliver raw materials to production machines safely and efficiently

    • Stand for extended periods, work at a fast pace, move large cages and bales, and work overtime as needed

    • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and ethical standards

    • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Previous experience following workplace safety requirements

    • Forklift experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or production environment

    • Physically capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for long periods

    • Experience sorting materials or products

    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to document accurately

    • Ability to adhere to schedules and rotating shift requirements

    • Manufacturing, production, or material handling experience preferred
