  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:

    Responsible for the installation, alteration, repair, maintenance, and adjustment of all

    machinery and equipment used in the co-extrusion lines, to include auxiliary equipment

    as well. Must be capable of diagnosis and troubleshooting to assure maximum up time of

    production equipment. Must possess the knowledge necessary to start up and run

    production equipment to assist in the duties of maintenance and troubleshooting.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Sets up and operate extruders, dies, feedblocks, and other downstream accumulation

    equipment; controls temperature, pressure, screw speed, winder, and meet customer

    specifications; has responsibility for start-up, shutdown, and cleaning of equipment;

    performs routine and minor maintenance on equipment; has responsibility for

    processability and quality; maintains process and production records; maintain a clean

    and orderly work environment in all areas utilized by the department. Other duties may

    be assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsible for communicating, instructing, directing, and training material handlers, roll

    handlers, and new coex operators when so instructed, or as necessary to maintain an

    efficient activity level of his assigned line, or to train. This includes, but not limited to,

    production, set-ups, and maintenance.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    - Minimum of a High School diploma.

    - Basic understanding of the coex materials operation which includes the mini ops,

    gravitrol system, blender systems, and railcar / bulk truck unloading procedures.

    - Set-up, start-up, troubleshoot, operate, and shutdown extruders and other downstream

    equipment.

    - Control temperatures, pressure, and line speed to maintain process and meet customer

    specifications.

    - Safely operate a forklift; strong mechanical skills, and the knowledge and ability to

    perform simple mathematical calculations and to functionally use a computer.

    - Properly use and understand a standard and metric tape measure.

    - Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for an extended period of time.

    - Able to climb ladders and not afraid of heights.

    - Other duties may be assigned.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    - Works in a manufacturing environment.

    - Subject to periodic exposure to outside weather conditions.

    - This position is exposed to occupational hazards including, but not limited to, moving

    machinery, high levels of power potential, high noise levels, physical obstacles,

    exposure to chemicals, slippery walking surfaces, and moving vehicles, etc.

    - Will climb ladders on outdoors railcars and silos, and indoor extruders, hoppers,

    surge bins, and other related equipment.

    - Exposed to sharp knives and cutters.

    - Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by the company

    including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing and footwear

    in the appropriate areas and must follow safety practices.
