    Our client, an international precision manufacturing company, is seeking a Production Planner to join their team in Greenville, SC. This position supports production scheduling, order review, and coordination within a custom, make-to-order manufacturing environment where each project may involve unique specifications and production requirements.

    The Production Planner will work closely with production, engineering, procurement, and customer service teams to translate incoming orders into efficient manufacturing schedules while maintaining accurate data within the ERP system.

    Success in this role requires the ability to balance capacity, material availability, and shifting production priorities in an environment where products are engineered and manufactured to order rather than produced in high-volume runs. The Production Planner will play an important role in optimizing schedules, maintaining delivery commitments, and supporting continuous improvements in manufacturing flow and efficiency.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and release orders based on capacity, capability, and material availability

    • Develop and maintain production schedules by work center, ensuring balanced capacity and bottleneck management

    • Support make vs. buy decisions using capability and capacity data

    • Participate in daily production meetings to ensure schedules are executed and address delays or expedite requests

    • Coordinate with production, procurement, and customer service to maintain delivery commitments

    • Maintain accurate SAP/ERP master data including lead times, routing times, machine utilization, and product structures

    • Analyze cycle time and material yield variances to support improved scheduling and costing accuracy

    • Participate in cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives

     

    Qualifications

    • 2–4 years of experience in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing environment

    • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)

    • Experience working in make-to-order or custom manufacturing environments

    • Experience in cutting tools, machining, or metalworking manufacturing preferred

    • ERP experience (SAP preferred) and strong Microsoft Office skills

    • Understanding of manufacturing processes, routing, and production flow

    • Knowledge of problem-solving methods such as 5-Why or root cause analysis

    • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills

    • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively across teams

    • Self-motivated with strong decision-making ability and attention to detail

    • Customer-focused mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
