The Production Supervisor must be able to address personnel issues, performance concerns, and procedural noncompliance directly and constructively, maintaining accountability while fostering a respectful and motivated team culture. The ideal candidate is highly organized, mechanically inclined, mathematically precise, and deeply attentive to detail—someone who thrives in a role where consistency, accuracy, and leadership are essential. This position reports to the Production Manager and plays a key role in keeping production operations efficient, safe, and aligned with Company standards.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for a range of duties critical to the success of the production operation, including:

    • Set and reinforce expectations for all Production Team members through clear, respectful, and consistent communication.

    • Enforce Company policies, standard operating procedures, and management directives by addressing performance and behavioral issues promptly and constructively.

    • Ensure daily production tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and consistently by working alongside the team, monitoring workflow, and reinforcing expectations in real time.

    • Plan and coordinate daily work schedules, task assignments, and production sequences to meet output goals; adjust priorities based on staffing, order deadlines, and input from other departments.

    • Monitor production work throughout each shift to ensure precision, compliance, and quality. Oversee equipment setup, operation, and transitions to confirm that products meet appearance, regulatory, and customer-specific standards.

    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by routinely inspecting equipment, materials, and work areas; model safe practices, ensure proper use of PPE, and respond promptly to hazards or unsafe behavior.

    • Pull and stage correct materials based on work orders; maintain accurate inventories and keep production storage areas organized and up to date.

    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Batch making, Labeling, Shipping and Receiving, and Office staff to coordinate workflow, resolve issues, and ensure smooth handoffs throughout the production process.

    • Track, verify, and report daily production metrics with exceptional accuracy; maintain detailed department records, including timekeeping, quality checks, and inventory documentation, and flag discrepancies or trends that impact production goals.

    • Conduct staff meetings to share updates, relay expectations, or address issues.

    • Oversee training across the Production Team by identifying skill gaps, determining who needs to be trained on which tasks, and assigning qualified team members to deliver hands-on instruction.

    • Participate in the hiring process by reviewing applicants, conducting interviews, and making recommendations.

    • Track team attendance; ensure absences and time-off use are recorded accurately, and document and address violations of the Company attendance policy.

    • Evaluate employee performance and conduct reviews in partnership with HR; document attendance, behavioral concerns, and performance trends to support feedback, coaching, and accountability.

    • Requisition or request supplies and materials as needed to support production operations.

    • Support budgeting tasks by helping track department activity, suggesting cost-effective improvements, or flagging needs.

    • Identify opportunities to improve production workflows, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency; recommend changes to the Production Manager to support continuous improvement.

    • Work shoulder to shoulder with the Production Team to model best practices, maintain team momentum, and actively contribute to output, especially during high-demand periods or complex runs. In addition to the essential functions listed above, the Production Supervisor may be asked to perform other duties as assigned or requested. Our team-oriented work environment requires everyone to be flexible and adaptable to meet changing demands and expectations.
