Full Job Description
The production worker is responsible for working in the production room. Job responsibilities include, but not limited to; grinding and chopping meat; formulating and mixing meat and seasonings; stuffing; and, packing sausages. Depending on the production volumes and seasonality needs, a production worker might be expected to perform ALL or only a limited number of the tasks outlined in this position description.
Essential Functions
Work in the formulation area by loading and grinding meat in the Grinder. Formulating by adding ice/water, ground meat and seasonings inside the Chopper, Mixer, as required. Moving totes and buggies in and from the meat cooler/freezer and other staging areas.
Loading formulated meat onto Stuffers and engaging in stuffing, tying and hanging sausages onto the racks. Push and pull sausage buggies and racks into and from the staging areas.
Move and stage racks of cooked sausages from holding rooms to Packing Rooms. Cut, delink, peel and sort sausages to get them ready for packing. Pack sausages, apply labels, put in crates.
Move crates of finished products and raw ingredients in and out of the coolers and holding rooms by carrying or using utility cart
Must follow all company policies including, but not limited to Safety and HR policies.
Must be able to operate the equipment necessary for his/her function - i.e., Mixer, Chopper, Stuffer, Grinder, Label Machine, etc. after appropriate training by authorized individual(s) in a safe and effective manner
Perform limited sanitation activities in accordance to SSOPs and PPE.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or requested.
Functional and Physical Requirements
Must be able to effectively read and speak English and/or Spanish
Must be able to work in a cold environment constantly
Must be able to climb ladders occasionally
Must be able to bend, squat and kneel consistently to move up to 40 lbs. from various heights
Must be able to push and pull consistently up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to push and pull consistently carts/racks (on wheels) up to 600 lbs.
Must be able to frequently reach above the head
Must be able to constantly maintain repetitive motions/tasks
Must be able to work overtime and weekends, when required
Must be able to constantly stand on their feet
Education, Training, & Experience Requirements
Must be able to perform his/her function after adequate on-the-job training
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred
Working experience in a GMP-enforced environment is preferred

While performing the essential duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration. Appropriate PPE is available to all employees. The employee is seldomly able to sit outside the daily two 15-minutes breaks and one 30-minutes lunch break.
