    Job Title: Professional Engineer (PE) – Environmental / Civil / Agricultural Engineering
    Location: Huron, South Dakota and Surrounding Areas

    **_About the Role:
    _**VPS is seeking a driven and adaptable Professional Engineer (PE) to join our team and support a growing portfolio of clients in the Huron, SD region. The ideal candidate will hold a PE license in Environmental, Civil, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related field—or be ready to obtain South Dakota licensure through reciprocity or imminent PE exam eligibility. This is a client-facing role based out of our Huron office, and local presence is required to effectively serve project needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide engineering expertise to clients in a variety of industries with expanding environmental and geotechnical needs
    • Lead and execute field and lab work including:
      • Soil boring and geotechnical investigations
      • GPS surveying
      • Soils laboratory testing (e.g., mechanical analysis, gradation, Atterberg limits, Proctor testing)
      • Monitoring well installation
      • Other field and technical services as needed
    • Serve as a technical and leadership resource for internal teams and clients
    • Prepare reports, interpret data, and provide sound engineering recommendations
    • Help maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards
    • Support the continued growth of the business by fostering strong client relationships

    Qualifications:

    • PE License in South Dakota or the ability to quickly obtain licensure through reciprocity
    • Candidates ready to sit for the PE exam, having fulfilled EIT requirements, will also be considered
    • PE licensure in one of the following disciplines preferred:
      • Environmental Engineering
      • Civil Engineering
      • Agricultural Engineering
      • Other directly related disciplines
    • Strong understanding of environmental fieldwork and lab testing procedures
    • Proficiency with geotechnical tools, survey equipment, and environmental standards
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client needs

    **_Location Requirement:
    _**This position is based in Huron, SD, with fieldwork in the surrounding area. The candidate must live within reasonable distance of the Huron office to support client and project needs.
