We are working with a well-established, employee-owned engineering and environmental consulting firm seeking a Lead Land Surveyor to join their Water Resources team in Saint Paul, MN. This firm operates at the intersection of water, ecology, and community, integrating civil engineering, environmental restoration, and planning services into sustainable project solutions.
Position Overview:
As the Lead Land Surveyor, you’ll play a strategic role across the organization’s service areas, working alongside multidisciplinary teams in a flexible, technology-forward environment. You'll lead survey efforts that support water resource projects, civil infrastructure, renewable energy, and land development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth research and collect critical project data such as plats, control points, utility locates, section corner ties, FEMA maps, zoning info, and aerial data.
Lead deed research, boundary analysis, legal description writing, and easement documentation.
Manage and execute a variety of survey types including topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, elevation certificates, volume surveys, and construction staking.
Provide CAD support including base drawing setup and QA/QC reviews.
Collaborate with field crews and technical teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in data collection and project delivery.
Communicate regularly with clients, project managers, construction teams, and internal stakeholders.
Guide strategic direction for survey services and participate in business development by contributing to proposals, estimates, and RFP responses.
Required Qualifications:
Licensed Land Surveyor in Minnesota (or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering Technology
5+ years of professional experience in land surveying
Proficiency with Trimble equipment/software, AutoCAD, and GIS systems
Experience across diverse project types: civil infrastructure, water resources, renewable energy, and land development
Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Project management experience
Staff management and mentorship background
FAA-licensed Unmanned Aircraft (UAS) operator experience

Compensation & Benefits:
Starting salary: $75,000+ (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
