Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) – Land Development & Commercial ALTAs

    Location: Charlotte, NC

    Salary: Up to $150K

    ?? Partner-track opportunity

Are you a licensed North Carolina PLS with a strong foundation in boundary work and a knack for building client relationships? Join a tight-knit, highly respected land development firm in Charlotte that has spent the last 15 years earning the trust of top-tier development clients — the kind who call us on our cell phones and know our kids' names.

We’re not a national firm, and that’s by design. We prioritize relationships over bureaucracy and development projects over government contracts. With a growing backlog of residential and commercial ALTA surveys — and too much business to take on — we’re looking for a motivated and experienced PLS who can lead technically, build client relationships, and grow into a Partner at the firm.

    What You’ll Do

    • Serve as a licensed NC PLS with expertise in boundary resolution, deed research, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
    • Work closely with CAD Technicians to oversee and QA/QC boundary deliverables
    • Support proposal writing and help drive business development — both with existing clients and new prospects
    • Lead and manage a steady pipeline of residential and commercial development surveys, including complex urban boundary work (e.g., quarter-acre $10M lots) and suburban subdivisions
    • Interpret plats, deeds, and survey records to piece together accurate boundary determinations
    • Occasionally support construction layout (roughly 20% of the workload)

    What We’re Looking For

    • Active North Carolina PLS license (required)
    • South Carolina PLS is a plus
    • 5+ years of relevant land development surveying experience, with a deep understanding of property boundaries
    • Experience managing survey teams or mentoring CAD Technicians preferred
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — someone who can call a client directly and talk like an old friend
    • Business-minded — comfortable supporting proposals or identifying new work
    • A long-term mindset with an interest in growing into a Partner-level role

    Why Join Us

    • $150K salary (max) with long-term upside
    • Clear path to firm partnership
    • Be part of a well-established firm with a stellar reputation in the Charlotte development scene
    • Work with a stable team of CAD Techs and support staff
    • Escape the red tape of government contracts — we focus on private development work
    • Contribute to a firm where your name and reputation matter
  • Compensation
    $150,000 per year
