    Location: New York/New Jersey (with occasional travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands)

    Overview:

    We are seeking a motivated and experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensed in New York and/or New Jersey to lead the development of a new Survey Department serving clients in NY, NJ, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a survey team from the ground up while playing a hands-on role in both field and office operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Take the lead in establishing and growing a new Survey Department.
    • Perform both fieldwork and office-based surveying tasks in the initial stages of department development.
    • Oversee and mentor a Survey CAD Technician already in place.
    • Coordinate and execute a variety of survey projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction surveys.
    • Provide QA/QC for deliverables and ensure compliance with local regulations and client specifications.
    • Assist with hiring and managing future field crews (1–2 teams).
    • Maintain professional licensure and stay up to date on relevant surveying practices and technology.

    Qualifications:

    • Active PLS license in New York and/or New Jersey (dual licensure strongly preferred).
    • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in land surveying, including both field and office work.
    • Proven ability to manage and execute projects independently.
    • Strong leadership skills and interest in growing a team.
    • Experience with survey-related software such as Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or Carlson.
    • Willingness to travel occasionally, including to the U.S. Virgin Islands.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in multiple jurisdictions.
    • Familiarity with coastal or island environments is a plus.
