JOB TYPE: Full Time
SALARY: $42,000
Sign-on bonus of $1,000.
$1,000 raises are given every six months for the first two years following positive performance reviews. $500 bonuses are also given every six months for good participation in training.
This position provides services to referred youth and their families who have issues with alcohol and/or drugs, delinquent behavior, or are at risk for out-of-home placement. Intensive services are provided through multiple weekly contacts in the home and in the community, and this program uses the Functional Family Therapy approach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interview and evaluate families to complete the intake process.
- Assess the therapeutic needs of clients and complete formal assessments.
- Formulate, implement, evaluate and review client treatment plans.
- Counsel clients in accordance with their treatment plans.
- Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for clients in emergency and crisis situations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in addressing family system, mental health, parenting, and alcohol/drug issues through individual, family, and group counseling.
- Organize and facilitate structured group, individual, and/or family activities.
- Attend client court proceedings and make appropriate recommendations as required.
- Report client progress to the Department of Human Services and make appropriate recommendations.
- Provide thorough and accurate updates on clients and make appropriate recommendations in regular and special staffings.
- Coordinate services and maintain communication with all service providers involved with the clients.
- Complete proper documentation as per program standards.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and obey all traffic laws.
- Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.
- Safely transport clients as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or other related fields.
- Position must keep current on information pertaining to client/family needs through seminars, training, media, text, and research.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read, speak and write clearly in English.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in establishing work schedules.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Department of Human Services.
- Must possess knowledge of DSM criteria, and have the ability to diagnose and/or utilize diagnoses for treatment purposes.
- Must establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, the school district, and other community agencies.
