JOB TYPE: Full Time
SALARY: $15.38 an hour.
This position provides support services in the school setting to Racine Unified High School students (Park, Horlick and Case High Schools) who are at-risk for truancy, academic difficulties, alcohol and drug abuse, delinquency and gang involvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interview and evaluate clients and families to complete intake process.
- Analyze client situations, capabilities and problems to determine services required to meet clients educational and treatment needs.
- Exercise judgment and advocate for clients in school setting.
- Organize and facilitate structured group individual and/or activities on a weekly basis.
- Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for clients in emergency and crisis situations.
- Formulate units, quarterly reports, weekly email updates, program database and discharge summaries on a timely basis as per program standards.
- Report monitored client behavior, grades and attendance to Racine Unified School District, parents and other relevant parties, and make appropriate recommendations.
- Monitor client behavior by conducting in person visits minimally three times weekly to discuss attendance, grades and behavior.
- Attend client IEP’s and make appropriate recommendations to advocate for clients.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and obey all traffic laws. Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
- Safely transport clients as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or other related fields.
- Keep current on information pertaining to client/family needs through seminars, training, media, text, and research.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read, speak and write clearly in English.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in establishing work schedule.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Racine County Human Services Department and Racine Unified School District.
- Must establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, the school district, and other community agencies.
- Must maintain client confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize and make appropriate decisions.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
