    JOB TYPE: Full-time

    SALARY: $16.00 /hour

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    This position provides services to high school youth who are at-risk for truancy, academic failure, delinquency, gang involvement, and alcohol and drug abuse. Responsibilities include: interviewing and evaluating clients; conducting client checks (both at school and within client homes); transporting clients; determining services to help the client as well as formulating, implementing client treatment plans.

    Hours are typically Monday - Friday during school hours, however this position is expected to work occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate the needs of the program. Flexible work arrangements available after six months of employment.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Interview and evaluate clients to complete intake process.
    • Analyze client situations, capabilities and problems to determine services required to meet treatment needs of client.
    • Formulate, implement, evaluate and review individual client treatment plans.
    • Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for clients in emergency and crisis situations.
    • Monitor client behavior and school achievement by conducting in-school checks on a daily basis. 
    • Provide assistance to the school personnel and students as determined by school administrators and program supervisor.
    • Organize and facilitate structured group, individual and/or family education/treatment and/or recreational activities three to four times a week.
    • On a weekly basis, update parents/guardians on client progress and provide problem solving interactions.
    • Formulate units, monthly reports, and discharge summaries per program standards.
    • Report client behavior and school achievement to Kenosha County Department of Human Services and Kenosha Unified School District, and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Provide supervision and support to youth placed in the Summer Youth Employment Program.
    • Attend court hearings with client and family as needed.
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and obey all traffic laws.  Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
    • Safely transport clients as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or other related field.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to read, speak and write clearly in English.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in establishing work schedule.
    • Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Department of Human Services and Kenosha Unified School District.
    • Must establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, the school district, and other community agencies.
    • Must maintain client confidentiality.
    • Ability to prioritize and make appropriate decisions.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.
    • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to provide culturally, ethnically and gender sensitive services.
    • Ability to follow directions and implement recommendations.
    • Possess creativity in identifying problems and solutions.
    • Ability to self motivate and remain on task.
    • Knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures as detailed in the personnel policy and procedure manual.
