    JOB TYPE: Part-time

    SALARY: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour, depending on experience

    The IHSS Community Worker works with families referred from the CPS and Ongoing Unit to maintain safety in homes where children are at risk for removal.  Staff work closely with identified families and address a wide range of concerns including: safety, parenting, household management, nutrition, safe and stable housing, service acquisition, education, employment, medical, mental health and substance abuse issues. 

    In addition, this position provides services to youth who have been re-unified with their family after being placed in residential treatment, foster care or treatment foster care. The position also provides services to families involved with the child welfare system that are at risk for out-of- home placement due to abuse or neglect issues.  

    The hours of work for this position will primarily be late afternoon and evening shifts (12pm-8pm) during the week and some weekends. Position must be available via cell phone 24/7, unless other coverage arrangements have been made.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Interview and evaluate clients to complete intake process.
    • Evaluate youth and families for treatment needs and refer to appropriate resources.
    • Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for clients in emergency and crisis situations.
    • Act as an on call resource to evaluate and determine necessary responses in de-escalating crisis situations with youth and families.
    • Conduct face-to-face contact with families, per program standards, to ensure safety and cooperation with safety plan. 
    • Serve as part of the Safety Team.
    • Complete all required paperwork/documentation, per program standards.
    • Provide timely client updates to other involved employees/agencies.
    • Safely transport clients as needed.
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and obey all traffic laws.

      

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or other related field.
    • Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
    • One year of experience working with at-risk youth and families preferred.
