    JOB TYPE: Full-Time

    SALARY: $17.00 an hour.

    SIGN-ON BONUS OF $750.

    This position makes recommendations to Kenosha County Division of Children and Family Services regarding the licensing of foster parent applicants.  This position also assists with program recruitment and retention.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct comprehensive foster care licensing studies and evaluations in accordance with DCF 56, including written reports with recommendations regarding candidate suitability for working with foster children.
    • Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for foster parents in emergency and crisis situations.
    • Assist with ongoing program planning and development.
    • Assist with program recruitment and retention.
    • Facilitate Foundation Training and Pre-Placement Training for foster parents.
    • Possess knowledge of Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter DCF 56.
    • Coordinate placements for foster children to match their needs to appropriate providers.
    • Be available via phone to assist Foster Parents with any questions or concerns they may have.
    • Handle all inquiries for foster care licensing.
    • Maintain contact as needed and provide support to foster parents.
    • Attend unit meetings at Kenosha County Division of Children and Family Services when necessary.
    • Assist with the preparation of monthly reports.
    • Complete proper documentation on a timely basis per program standards.
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and obey all traffic laws.  Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or other related fields. 
    • The position must keep current on information pertaining to regulations and statutes through seminars, trainings, media, text, and research.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to read, speak and write clearly in English.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in establishing work schedules.
    • Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Department of Human Services and foster parents.
    • Must establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, the school district, and other community agencies.
    • Must maintain client confidentiality.
    • Ability to prioritize and make appropriate decisions.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.
    • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to provide culturally, ethnically, and gender-sensitive services.
    • Ability to follow directions and implement recommendations.
    • Possess creativity in identifying problems and solutions.
    • Ability to self-motivate and remain on task.
    • Knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures as detailed in the personnel policy and procedure manual.
