    IN HOUSE ATTORNEY - CANNABIS

     

    IN HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL ATTORNEY JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a Regulatory Compliance Attorney to join a fast-paced, Cannabis Legal Department. This position is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney to work for well-established cannabis company. The candidate will gain a wide breadth of experience in a supportive environment and will play an integral role in the day-to-day needs of the legal team, as well as the Company’s business associates. The candidate will provide guidance related to cannabis contracts to assure legal compliance, adherence to contract guidelines and mitigation of risk. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with the in-house team, management  on any issues and regulatory compliance.

     

    IN HOUSE COUNSEL / ATTORNEY QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION:

    • JD from a well-regarded, U.S. accredited law school

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Current California bar membership

    • 2 – 4 years of experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with a law firm or in-house legal department

    • Corporate cannabis transactional experience required

     

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • At least five years of general corporate law experience
    • At least one year of regulatory experience in cannabis
    • Must be licensed in California
    • Ability to work on challenging products in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
    • Must have 2-3 years litigation experience, preferably in commercial litigation (but other litigation experience will be considered)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, references, academic credentials, and strong legal writing are required
    • Commercial transactional experience is a plus
    • The candidate must have strong organizational skills, superior attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities within deadlines
    • Self-starter with ability to perform without significant direct supervision
    • Strong team player

    • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications
