    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

     

    Currently recruiting a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) Director of Labor & Delivery in San Antonio, Texas, to work in a 240-bed facility that offers almost everything from emergency medicine, ortho, neuro, and many more.

    Job Responsibilities of the Director of Labor & Delivery RN:

    • Assessment: Conduct comprehensive, timely, and ongoing focused physical, psycho-social and pain assessments; includes assessment of patient education needs.
    • Planning: Utilizes the assessment, identifies problems, makes nursing diagnoses and formulates goals, teaching plans and outcomes to create an individualized plan of care.
    • Evaluation/Reassessment: Consistently conducts timely evaluation, anticipates and recognizes changes in patient conditions, determines when reassessments are needed and adjusts the plan of care accordingly. Compares expected and achieves outcomes of nursing care utilizing the plan of care.
    • Communicates effectively with peers, supervisors, ancillary department, and other customers.
    • Responsible 24 hours a day, with full accountability, for 70-80 staff, 42 beds, and management of patient care in each of his/her units, for promoting the practice of professional nursing in a specified patient care area, and for the acquisition, development, and utilization of resources (human and material) needed to fulfill those responsibilities.
    • Liaison between physicians and the patient care team and works cooperatively with administrators, physicians, staff, other managers and all customers of the Methodist Healthcare System to provide services, which consistently meet and exceed the expectations of their customers.
    • Assess and prioritize opportunities to improve, plan and implement effective changes and evaluate outcomes of process improvement activities.
    • # of Beds Per Unit: 9 antepartum rooms; 15 L&D rooms; 3 OR, 5 PACUs rooms; 4 triage rooms and 9 overflow
    Qualifications and Education for the Director of Labor & Delivery RN:
    • Graduate from a bachelor s degree nursing program.
    • RN license to practice in the state of Texas.
    • BLS healthcare provider.
    • 3 years of acute care experience as an RN.
    Compensation and Benefits for the Labor & Delivery RN:
    • Salary: $100k-$110k, depends on experience.
    • Sign on bonus up to $10k and relo up to $5k.
    • PTO starting at 4 weeks per year.
