    Job Description

    Our DIGITAL HEALTHCARE TEAM is looking for college students in Biomedical Engineering, Premedical, or a related field of study who are excited about defining, improving, and executing digital health research and operations that enable PROGENTEC to improve patient outcomes. This is a digital internship, which will require stable access to the internet and phone, and is expected to last the duration of the summer.

    The DIGITAL HEALTHCARE INTERN is in charge of the collection, verification, and input of patients’ medical records for an ongoing research study. You will contact the respective clinics of each patient enrolled in the research study and facilitate the collection of records. Patient concerns and trouble with participation in the research study will be resolved by you or delegated to appropriate team members. In the event that patients miss a timepoint, or are indicated to not be utilizing their wearable device, you will contact that patient to address any solutions. From the data that is collected you will generate reports and discuss your findings with the Digital Healthcare Team during meetings.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

    • Consult with patients: You will work with our research patients, either via phone, email, or social media platforms to address and triage questions or concerns. Patients’ missed timepoints will be reconciled.

    • Collection and abstraction of medical records: Research Patients’ medical records will need to be collected via fax or email from their respective clinics. Clinics will be contacted and directed to send copies of patient’s relevant medical records to the digital healthcare team. These documents’ contents will be abstracted into a medical database and appended to their respective research patients.

    • Generation of reports and readouts: You will regularly generate and distribute parameters on Key Performance Indicators from the extensive information that will be collected from all of the patients on the study.

    • Troubleshoot and triage patient support: You will address, delegate, and resolve issues study patients are facing. This will be through multiple mediums such as phone, email, and social media. Problems that are beyond the scope of the study will be forwarded to respective members of the digital healthcare team.

    • Has experience working with data collection, management and analysis

    • Has a strong ability to work with others and to meet tight/multiple deadlines

    • Has strong project management skills an excellent attention to detail

    • Has familiarity with database management software 

    • Has demonstrated ability to use applicable business software including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, Access)

    • Has familiarity with terminology and workflow of medical environments

    • Has ability to maintain HIPAA compliance with all relevant operations

    EDUCATION

    REQUIRED: Presently enrolled in an accredited college or university for a Bachelor’s Degree and approved by the institution for internship program

    PREFERRED: Students pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Premedical studies, or a related field

    EXPERIENCE

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience communicating within medical environments

    • Experience with medical records 

    • Experience in software development or Agile environments

    • Experience writing up and troubleshooting software defects

     BONUS POINTS:

    ·         Familiarity with Medical Terminology, Medical Records

    ·         Experience with relational databases such as Postgres, SQL Server and/or Oracle

    WORK AUTHORIZATION: United States (Required). Hiring is contingent upon a satisfactory Background Check.
