The Mission offers housing, counseling, and other services to men, women, and children facing homelessness, emergency assistance to individuals and families, and hope through the Gospel to anyone seeking spiritual transformation.

    Job Summary: The Program Associate provides supervision, support, and structure for program guests. This role maintains a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment, facilitates daily program operations, and provides organizational and administrative support to leadership. Program Associates are assigned to a specific program (Pathways, R.I.S.A., Morning Light, or GraceWorks) and receive specialized training.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Supervise and support guests, ensuring adherence to house guidelines.

    Facilitate group meetings, workshops, devotionals, and onsite activities.

    Provide encouragement, foster accountability, and document guest interactions in designated systems.

    Report maintenance or operational concerns and respond to emergencies as needed.

    Maintain safe, orderly environments and positive relationships with guests.

    Lead Bible studies and program components as assigned.

    Conduct intake, needs assessment, and develop case plans.

    Connect guests to community resources such as housing, employment, education, healthcare, and recovery support.

    Attend staff meetings, trainings, and participate in program evaluation.

    Represent Star Gospel Mission at community forums and partner meetings.

    Support the Program Officer with strategic initiatives, compliance, and mission goals.

    Program Specific Focus:

    Pathways: Support men in transitional housing, reinforce goals, assist with check-ins.

    Morning Light: Assist mothers and children in transitional housing (no childcare provided).

    GraceWorks: Support clients receiving emergency assistance and coordinate resources.

    RISA: Provide structure and support to individuals in early recovery.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or GED required; some college or relevant experience preferred.

    Experience in human services, residential programs, or faith-based recovery settings is beneficial.

    Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

    Ability to enforce rules with fairness and composure.

    Understanding of addiction recovery, trauma-informed care, and crisis response preferred.

    Commitment to the mission and values of Star Gospel Mission.

    Certifications/Licenses:

    Valid State Driver’s License. Christian Ministry credentials helpful.

    Physical Requirements:

    Evening and weekend hours required.

    Ability to sit, walk, and stand frequently, lift up to 25 lbs, and speak and read English.

    Primarily indoors with occasional outdoor responsibilities; ability to travel locally.

    Working Conditions:

    Work is typically performed in a normal office environment with minimal physical discomfort.
