    Job Description

    REPORTS TO:  Director of Manufacturing

     

    BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION: Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics, material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination; utilizing Lean Six/Sigma principals. Will contribute to developing the most effective way to utilize PMMCO processes and improve ways to increase productivity, maximize efficiency, and manage human capital more effectively.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

    PLANNING

    1. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
    2. Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
    3. Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer
    4. Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control. Develop ROI’s for equipment justification.
    5. Supports capital improvement projects to include developing budgets and schedules for same.

    PRODUCTION

    1. Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
    2. Develop and maintain all PMMCO manufacturing methods.
    3. Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production standards.
    4. Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities.
    5. Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization.
    6. Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.

     

    QUALITY

    1. Formulate sampling procedures and designs and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data
    2. Assist workers engaged in product measurement, inspection, and testing activities to ensure quality control and reliability.
    3. Implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and defective or damaged parts and assess cost and responsibility.
    4. Evaluate precision and accuracy of production and testing equipment and engineering drawings to formulate corrective action plans where required.
    5. Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.

    CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

    1. Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities, to include reductions in setup time for all production processes.
    2. Champion and monitor continuous improvement processes
    3. Participate in and lead Kaizen events.
    4. Assist in guiding cross functional teams in the development of PFMEA’s and root cause analysis as required.
    5. Set up an implementation plan and work with plant management to develop focused teams for the purpose of sustaining cost improvement & problem-solving initiatives which he/she will help put in place.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    1.    Studying to attain a bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering.

    2.    Six Sigma/Lean Green Belt awareness

    3.    Good Computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Office Products such as EXCEL, Word, Power Point

    4.    Excellent communicator capable to lead small & mid-size groups to implement continuous improvement programs.
