A/E Project Accountant / Senior Project Accountant
Architecture & Engineering Firms (Ongoing Search)
San Francisco Bay Area | Full-time | Hybrid or In-office (role dependent)

Building Talent partners with architecture and engineering firms in the San Francisco Bay Area on ongoing and upcoming Project Accountant and Senior Project Accountant needs. This posting reflects roles we regularly support as firms grow, projects expand, and finance teams evolve.

We’re connecting with Project Accountants who have direct experience in architecture and/or engineering environments and are comfortable managing the financial side of projects from setup through closeout. Depending on the firm and role level, responsibilities may range from hands-on project accounting to more senior ownership of project financials across multiple projects or studios.

Core responsibilities

• Project setup, budgets, fee tracking, and financial reporting
• Billing by phase or milestone, including client invoicing
• WIP tracking, utilization support, and revenue recognition
• Subconsultant invoicing and coordination
• Ongoing collaboration with Project Managers, Principals, and firm leadership

Required / preferred software experience

• Deltek Vantagepoint or Deltek Vision
• Ajera or similar A/E project accounting systems
• Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas; Power Query a plus)

Backgrounds that tend to align well

• Project accounting experience within architecture or engineering firms
• Comfort supporting multiple concurrent projects and project teams
• Strong attention to detail and confidence partnering closely with PMs and Principals
• Experience working in fee-based, project-driven environments
