Senior Project Accountant
Architecture, Engineering & Construction (Future Opportunities)
San Francisco Bay Area | Full-time | Hybrid or In-office (role dependent)

Building Talent partners with architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms across California on ongoing and upcoming Senior Project Accountant needs. This posting reflects roles we regularly support as firms scale, teams mature, and accounting functions become more complex.

We’re connecting with Senior Project Accountants who bring deeper AEC experience and are comfortable owning project financials with greater autonomy. These roles often support firm leadership and project teams with higher-level oversight across multiple projects, studios, or portfolios.

Core responsibilities

• Oversight of project setup, budgets, and financial performance
• Advanced billing, revenue recognition, and WIP or job cost management
• Review and support of junior project accounting work
• Contract, change-order, and financial risk support
• Close collaboration with Project Managers, Principals, and leadership

Required / preferred software experience

• Deltek Vantagepoint, Deltek Vision, or Ajera
• Sage 300 CRE / Sage Timberline, Viewpoint Vista or Spectrum, or CMiC
• Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas; Power Query a plus)

Backgrounds that tend to align well

• Senior-level project accounting experience within AEC environments
• Comfort managing complex projects or portfolios with minimal oversight
• Strong communication skills and confidence partnering with leadership teams
• Experience supporting growth-stage firms or evolving accounting structures
