BBC Electrical Services is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to support project financial management, revenue recognition, and operational accounting activities across electrical construction projects. This role will work closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance leadership to ensure accurate project financial reporting, contract compliance, billing support, and revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
The ideal candidate will have experience in construction or project-based accounting environments and a strong understanding of project cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, and multiple revenue recognition methodologies, including percentage of completion (cost-based), unit-based, and time and equipment contracts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage project accounting activities for multiple active construction and service projects.
- Perform revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and company accounting policies.
- Analyze and calculate revenue recognition using:
- Percentage of completion (cost-based) methodology
- Unit-based revenue recognition
- Time and equipment (T&M) contracts
- Review project costs, committed costs, change orders, and billing information to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and project financial reports.
- Partner with Project Managers and Operations teams to monitor project financial performance, forecast costs, and identify risks or variances.
- Assist with monthly project close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Support customer billing processes, contract compliance, and invoice review.
- Review project contracts and assist in determining appropriate accounting treatment and revenue recognition methodology.
- Monitor project budgets, labor costs, subcontractor expenses, and equipment utilization.
- Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation related to project accounting and revenue recognition.
- Support process improvements and standardization of project accounting procedures.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and financial records within ERP/accounting systems.
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in construction accounting, project accounting, or related accounting roles preferred.
- Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition required.
- Experience with percentage of completion and project-based accounting methodologies required.
- Strong understanding of project cost accounting and WIP reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position primarily operates in an office environment with standard business hours. Occasional travel to company offices or project locations may be required.
