    We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant (Construction / Job Cost) to join our team and support active projects across Southern California. This role is based out of our Torrance office and requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of construction accounting, and proven experience with job cost accounting and GMP-based construction projects.

    Responsibilities

    Maintain accurate job cost records for multiple active construction projects

    Set up and manage project cost codes, budgets, and cost tracking

    Monitor project costs and identify variances against budgets and GMPs

    Process and review subcontractor pay applications and lien releases

    Prepare and submit owner applications for payment in coordination with project teams

    Track and manage change orders, including budget updates and cost adjustments

    Support monthly project cost reporting and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules

    Reconcile committed costs, actual costs, and projected costs to complete

    Assist project managers with cost forecasting and financial reporting

    Ensure compliance with contract terms, billing requirements, and documentation standards

    Maintain organized and accurate project accounting files and records

    Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and vendors to resolve cost and billing issues

    Support audits and internal reviews related to project financials

    Qualifications

    3–7 years of construction accounting experience, preferably with a general contractor

    Experience with construction or renovation projects under GMP contracts required

    Excellent understanding and ability to use various standard AIA forms, including G702 and G703.

    Strong understanding of job cost accounting and construction financial controls

    Experience processing subcontractor and owner billings

    Familiarity with change orders, cost forecasting, and WIP reporting

    Proficient in accounting and job cost software (Sage 100 Contractor experience preferred)

    Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

    Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
