At Daniels Construction, you'll do more than crunch numbers. As our next Project Accountant, you'll be a trusted partner to project teams, helping ensure our projects succeed financially so we can continue building what matters most for our clients and communities.
How will you contribute:
In this role, you'll combine technical accounting expertise with collaboration across project teams. Your work will provide financial insights and reporting that keep projects on track and the company moving forward.
Project Accounting
- Prepare job progress status schedules and generates job cost information for monthly and quarterly work in process (WIP) meetings with project teams and management.
- Supports with timely downloading/entering of project specific budgets in the accounting system.
- Supports project teams to ensure that adequate owner billings are being issued in a timely and accurate manner.
- Cross-train to back up subcontractor/material purchase order commitments and change orders.
- Serve as a go-to financial resource for project teams.
General Accounting
- Contribute to general financial operations including, but not limited to, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations, financial analysis, and payroll tax reporting and filing.
- Assist in preparing the annual operating budget and monthly monitoring of performance to help identify, interpret, and resolve any unusual variances.
- Maintain sales and use tax compliance, including preparing and filing returns.
- Supports retirement (ESOP/401k) related functions, including compliance and audit/reporting requirements.
- Assist with audits of all insurance policies.
What you need to qualify:
Daniels will help make the most of your post-secondary education (or equivalent experience) in Construction Accounting.
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in accounting or a related business field preferred (in lieu of a degree, 5+ years of industry experience may be considered).
- 3+ years of Accounting Experience in the Construction Industry, required.
- Knowledge of percentage of the completion revenue recognition method.
- Experience in job cost reporting/analyses and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with computerized construction accounting systems (Sage 300 CRE preferred).
