    Project Analyst – Engineering Projects

    Position Summary

    The Project Analyst supports the financial, scheduling, and administrative control of engineering projects across their full lifecycle. This role partners closely with Engineering, Project Management, Finance, and Sales teams to ensure accurate project setup, cost tracking, invoicing, resource planning, and performance reporting. The ideal candidate has experience working in an engineering or technical services environment and understands the financial and operational dynamics of billable engineering projects.

    Principal Responsibilities

    Engineering Project Controls

    • Partner with Engineering and Management teams to establish and monitor project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasts.
    • Track project performance against scope, schedule, and budget using engineering project metrics.
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date status reporting for all active engineering projects.
    • Support engineering leadership with customer change order / change request processes.
    • Track approved change requests and update project budgets, schedules, timekeeping systems, and purchase order values accordingly.

    Invoicing & Project Financial Management

    • Prepare and issue weekly and/or monthly invoices for engineering services in accordance with contract terms.
    • Work closely with Finance to ensure accurate revenue recognition and compliance with internal controls.
    • Support monthly Work in Progress (WIP) and project expense reviews.
    • Identify and report at-risk project spend , cost overruns, and cash flow concerns to management.

    Resource Allocation & Timekeeping

    • Administer engineering resource loading and utilization reports to support capacity planning.
    • Assist with resource allocation by coordinating with Engineering Managers and Project Engineers.
    • Initiate and maintain project setup in the order management and timekeeping systems.
    • Track and report department backlog and overall engineering project backlog.
    • Ensure accurate time record reporting aligned with project budgets and billing requirements.

    Reporting & Project Administration

    • Develop and maintain project dashboards, management reports, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant to engineering operations.
    • Provide administrative support to Engineering and Sales teams throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Organize and coordinate project and engineering meetings.
    • Track meeting action items, distribute minutes, and follow up on open items.
    • Maintain engineering staff records, including résumés, degrees, certifications, and training documentation for compliance and customer requirements.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferred degrees include Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Management , Finance.
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience supporting engineering or technical services projects.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel (advanced), Word, Outlook.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain complex spreadsheets for project tracking and analysis.
    • Familiarity with engineering business processes, including project controls, cost tracking, and invoicing.
    • Working knowledge of Gantt charts and Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent engineering projects.
    • Strong attention to detail, customer focus, and commitment to quality.

    Preferred

    • Experience in consulting engineering, project engineering, or technical services firms.
    • Exposure to project financial concepts such as WIP, earned value, backlog, and utilization.
    • Proficiency with SAP Ariba, Infor, or similar e-Commerce platforms.
    • Proficiency with Salesforce.

    Compensation & Employment Details

    • Employment Type: Full-Time
    • Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications
    • Compensation Range: $50,000 to $90,000 annually
