    Job Description

    Project Architect

Are you a licensed architect who enjoys more than just drawing buildings? Do you thrive on figuring out how things go wrong, and how to fix them? We're looking for a Staff Architect with 7–10 years of experience who’s ready to apply their design knowledge in a more investigative, hands-on way.

This is not your typical architecture job. You’ll spend about half your time in the field inspecting existing buildings, from aging facades to complex structural systems, and the other half designing creative repair solutions and writing up your findings in clear, well-structured reports. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, legal teams, and owners, playing a key role in restoring safety and value to commercial, residential, and public buildings.

    What You'll Do

    • Assess and document building conditions and failures, on-site and in writing
    • Design repairs, restoration plans, and detail solutions that solve the root problems
    • Contribute to forensic investigations in support of litigation or insurance claims
    • Manage the full project life cycle: client meetings, reports, drawings, bidding, and construction oversight
    • Participate in field testing, quality assurance, and construction observation
    • Be a go-to technical expert for design peer reviews and envelope problem-solving
    • Represent the firm with professionalism and confidence in client-facing settings

    What You Bring

    • A degree in Architecture and a license to practice in Minnesota
    • 7–10 years of professional experience in architecture or related construction/design roles
    • Curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of hands-on, real-world problem solving
    • Strong report writing and communication skills
    • Field experience and an interest in building forensics or investigation (prior forensic experience not required)

    What’s In It for You

    • Flexible schedule- No set office hours—work on your time
    • Hybrid work model- Just one day a week in-office (Wednesdays), otherwise remote or in the field
    • Competitive compensation- $100K–$120K base salary, performance-based bonus potential
    • Job stability- A track record of never laying off employees, even during downturns
    • Growth environment- Ongoing mentorship, peer collaboration, and continuing education paid in full
    • Company culture- Annual fishing trips, holiday parties, fantasy football leagues, and weekly happy hours

    Why This Role Matters
Buildings age, fail, and experience wear and tear. Your work will help bring them back to life, safer, more resilient, and better designed for the future. This is your chance to step into a highly specialized niche, grow your career, and enjoy the kind of work-life balance most architects only dream of.
