    Direct Hire - Project Controls Engineer

    Well-established manufacturer and industry leader in custom industrial equipment. They are seeking a Project Controls Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on innovative automation and process equipment projects in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with strong growth potential.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform machine function testing to verify control panel components, field devices, and wiring meet design specifications and applicable electrical standards.
    • Develop, modify, and optimize PLC, HMI, and VFD programming for industrial and process equipment.
    • Integrate control system hardware and software, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, safety devices, relays, and associated electrical wiring into new and retrofit equipment.
    • Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control systems, and drives during machine checkout, startup, commissioning, and field service.
    • Provide remote technical support for electrical and controls-related issues via phone, email, and remote connections.
    • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including electrical schematics, controller tag lists, process narratives, and controls documentation.
    • Update electrical drawings using CAD software.

    Qualifications

    • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field required; Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering preferred.
    • 2–5 years of hands-on experience with industrial controls, automation, or electrical systems.
    • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and industrial/process automation.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control logic, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
    • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards, along with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, or Profibus, is preferred.
    • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
    • Valid driver's license and ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
    • Ability to travel as needed.
