    Merrick Books is a small company that manages crowd-funding projects to produce deluxe, collector's edition books for small publishers and independent authors, then we distribute those books direct-to-consumer.

    We are seeking a self-directed, highly-organized team member who demonstrates a passion for working with our clients (authors) and customers (readers). This role will be directly involved in the creative process, coordinating manufacturing with clients and vendors. It will also be responsible for managing metadata and across a number of online platforms and operating Merrick Books' social media presence. In the intermediate term, the position will be involved in customer support, providing prompt and polite service via email, and closing the loop by ensuring the customer issue is resolved.

    A successful candidate will need the people skills to collaborate with clients and customers in a friendly and professional manner, demonstrate an interest in books and visual arts, have the organizational skills to track dozens of projects at once at various stages of the process, and the attention to detail to ensure metadata is maintained accurately.

    Ideally, a candidate will have some experience with Shopify or other ecommerce platforms, website design, photography, social media promotion, or graphic design.

    We will train the successful candidate on the tools they need, but we need someone who is passionate about the creative aspects of this role and will be accountable for the administrative components.

    Necessary skills:

    • Familiarity with or the ability to quickly learn software like Microsoft Office, Kickstarter, Pledgebox, Backerkit, Shopify, Dropbox, Amazon, Social Media, Slack, and others
    • Excellent written and verbal communication with external partners
    • Ability to problem solve and thrive without direct supervision
    • Organized with high attention to detail

    Bonus skills:

    • Experience in eCommerce

    • Book selling or a book lover!

    *Merrick Books is a small business that cannot offer health insurance or retirement plans, but we compensate with generous time off policies and flexible working hours. This role is a full time position, but could be done hybrid with 2-3 days a week in the office and the rest virtual.
