    Orion Engineers, PLLC is seeking a Project Engineer to assist our team in delivering engineering services on existing projects and pursue new opportunities. As a Construction Engineer at Orion Engineers, you will have the opportunity to continue to hone your technical skills while gaining broad exposure to project accounting, client service, marketing, and product and business development.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Reporting to the Construction Management team, Construction Engineers will assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculations, geometric design, pavement marking/signing, drainage design, traffic studies, traffic signal design, public involvement, report writing, specifications, cost estimates, roadway lighting, and other related tasks. Candidates with a background in preliminary engineering or development of detailed plans and specifications are recommended. The individual may also be called on to work closely with other teams on multi-disciplinary projects. Activities will vary and can include:

    Analyzes information and data to perform routine design tasks.

    Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.

    Research design options and document findings.

    Responsible as a member of the design team for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.

    Researches code requirements.

    Prepares environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits.

    Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule, scope or additional services.

    Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; and participating in professional societies.

    Assist or participate in preparation of project proposals and other business development efforts.

    May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with emphasis on construction engineering.

    Professional Engineer Licensure in the State of Illinois

    Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.

    Minimum 5 years progressively responsible experience as a Construction Engineer or similar position.

    Demonstrate familiarity with ISTHA/IDOT policies, roadway design and plan preparation, and construction engineering.

    Must have experience with MicroStation design software.

    Experience with E-Builder, CMMS, and Primavera a plus.

    Qualified candidate must have a good work history and possess a valid driver's license to use company-owned vehicles to travel to project locations, perform field work, or attend off-property meetings

    PAY, PERKS, & BENEFITS

    Competitive starting salary ranging from $85,000 to $115,000, based on experience and qualifications
