We are seeking an experienced professional to perform underwater and topside inspections of bridges and waterfront structures across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions (DE, MD, DC, VA, PA, NJ, and beyond). The ideal candidate will be a licensed engineer with proven field experience leading dive inspection teams and ensuring the integrity and safety of critical infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct underwater and topside inspections of bridges and waterfront structures in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and OSHA regulations.
Support emergency response and rapid assessment efforts following weather or other critical events.
Evaluate bridge components and channel conditions to ensure public safety and infrastructure reliability.
Draft and review inspection reports, clearly documenting findings and recommendations.
Maintain and perform routine servicing on diving equipment according to established safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Provide accurate and concise project documentation and technical summaries.
Plan, schedule, and lead inspection activities while maintaining the highest standards for diving safety, quality control, and data accuracy.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
7+ years of experience performing underwater bridge inspections.
Meets NBIS Underwater and Topside Team Leader qualifications.
Commercial Diving (ADCI) Certification and current USDOT physical.
ADCI-approved medical exam within the past 12 months.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
Physically able to perform field work, including operating small boats, carrying equipment up to 75 lbs, and working in varying weather conditions.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve project goals.
ADCI Air-Diving Supervisor Certification.
Prior leadership and team coordination experience.
Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Microsoft Word/Excel.
Experience in structural design, load rating, or structural analysis for bridges and waterfront structures.
NDT/NDE experience a plus.
Previous work with state DOTs or transportation agencies preferred.
