  • Responsibilities

    The Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and distributing recurring financial and operational reports that support accounting, regulatory reporting, reconciliations, and management reporting functions for the credit union and subsidiaries. This role focuses primarily on historical financial data analysis, report development, data validation, reconciliation support, and operational reporting efficiency. The position works closely with Accounting, Finance, and business units to improve reporting accuracy, streamline reconciliation and task processes, enhance reporting controls, and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies through automation and process improvement initiatives.

    1. Responsible for assisting in the preparation, validation, and compilation of recurring regulatory and financial reporting requirements, including the NCUA 5300 Call Report, Form 990 and 990-T tax return support, CECL reporting, ALM reporting, board packets, management reporting packages, monthly financial bundles and support for audits and examinations. Ensures reporting deadlines are met through accurate compilation, reconciliation, and organization of financial data and supporting documentation. (35%)

    2. Performs reconciliation and validation procedures between source systems, general ledger balances, and reporting accuracy. Research and assist in resolving reporting discrepancies and supports audit and examination request through preparation of reconciliation and support. (20%)

    3. Supports initiatives focused to improve operational efficiencies within accounting and reporting processes through workflow enhancements, process standardization, automation opportunities, and reduction of manual reporting activities. Assists with maintaining and improving reporting templates, procedures, and documentation to enhance consistency, accuracy, and scalability. (10%)

    4. Prepares recurring financial and operational reporting packages for management, committees, and other internal stakeholders utilizing historical financial data and account-level analysis. Assists with compiling supporting requests related to accounting operations and financial reporting activities. (10%)

    5. Maintain a positive and subservient mindset when collaborating with Accounting, Finance and all business units to obtain reporting data, resolve discrepancies, and support recurring reporting deliverables. Maintains organized reporting schedules and documentation while providing general support for departmental and organizational reporting initiatives. (10%)

    6. Utilizes knowledge of accounting systems, reporting platforms, business intelligence tools, and financial data structures to support reporting and reconciliation functions across multiple systems and departments. Maintains an understanding of cross-functional data flows, report mappings, and system relationships. Supports reporting enhancements through effective use Microsoft applications, reporting software, and other financial or operational systems utilized within the organization. (10%)

    7. All other duties assigned to support WPCU reporting, project initiatives, and efficiencies. Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated. (5%)

    Required Skills

    1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field is required. Applicable Accounting or Finance work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.

    2. A minimum of 4 years of accounting experience within a financial institution, including month-end closing, is required. 5300 or bank call report experience and exposure to externally serviced loans and participation loans is strongly preferred.

    3. Knowledge and understanding of intermediate-level accounting principles is required.

    4. Demonstrated ability to analyze, reason, problem solve complex situations, workflows and prioritize work independently.

    5. Apply effective time management skills to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.

    6. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Will effectively communicate with personnel at all levels throughout the organization.

    7. Advanced MS Office skills or similar analytical experience. Knowledge with banking and accounting software programs, including ERP systems (Fiserv, TrinTech, Jack Henry or similar). Knowledge and experience in centralized data repositories for robust reporting.
