Project Engineer
Forest Lake, MN | 6+ Month Contract | $45.00-$65.00/hr
Konik is partnering with a leading product development and manufacturing organization seeking to add a Project Engineer to support the design and development of off-road vehicle systems. This role will provide technical leadership across engineering programs, contributing to product design, cost management, and cross-functional execution from concept through production.
This is an opportunity to work on highly visible, consumer-facing products in a fast-paced environment where engineering decisions directly impact product performance, customer experience, and market success.
Project Engineer Responsibilities
- Lead and support engineering programs from concept through production, ensuring alignment on cost, schedule, and performance
- Influence the design of mechanical components and systems to improve product performance, quality, and competitiveness
- Develop and evaluate innovative design concepts based on customer needs and market insights
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, testing, and supply chain to execute development efforts
- Manage project costs including bill of materials, tooling, and development resources
- Coordinate development activities including design, testing, prototyping, and validation
- Participate in design reviews to ensure alignment across engineering and business objectives
- Benchmark competitive products, materials, and processes to inform design decisions
- Analyze field performance and recommend design improvements or corrective actions
Project Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in product development or mechanical design
- Experience working on consumer products or high-volume manufactured products preferred
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and design processes
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo/Pro-E or similar preferred)
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced development environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to contribute in team settings
