    Who We Are

Blue Mountain Mechanical is a leading mechanical contractor serving commercial and public sector clients across the Pacific Northwest. We deliver complex projects with a focus on safety, quality, and accountability. We operate lean, move fast, and expect our team to be well-rounded—not siloed.

    The Role

We’re hiring a Project Engineer to support our Project Managers across active mechanical construction projects. This is an early-career role for someone who’s hungry, detail-oriented, and coachable, with the goal of growing into a Project Manager and/or Estimator over time.

Target experience level: typically 2–5 years supporting construction projects (mechanical preferred). We will also consider entry-level candidates (0 years) only if they have a relevant 4-year degree (e.g., Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or similar) and can demonstrate strong exposure to how construction projects and jobsites operate through internships, co-ops, or hands-on project work.

    What You’ll Do

Manage and track submittals, product data, RFIs (as needed), and closeout documents

Assist with takeoffs/quantities and support bid/job costing needs as required

Support purchasing: material ordering, lead times, delivery coordination, and follow-up

Help build and maintain project documentation (logs, files, turnover packages)

Support job planning and scheduling (Microsoft Project exposure is a plus)

Assist with dig permits / utility locates and related project documentation

Create and maintain safety documentation (safety plans, crane plans, compliance records)

Attend job walks when PMs are slammed: take photos, capture detailed notes, verify conditions

Measure and verify field conditions to support mechanical/piping coordination

Use tools like Bluebeam (and AutoCAD familiarity is a plus for piping/mechanical work)

    What We’re Looking For

2–5 years experience supporting construction projects (mechanical construction strongly preferred) OR a relevant 4-year degree (Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or similar) with internships/co-ops or meaningful project exposure

Comfortable around jobsites—understands how construction sites operate and communicates professionally with field teams

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

High attention to detail and strong follow-through (this is critical)

Able to manage a “mixed bag” workload—submittals, purchasing, permits, job walks, documentation

Coachable, adaptable, and team-oriented (not rigid / “this is how I’ve always done it”)

Interest in long-term growth into Project Management and/or Estimating

    Nice to Have

    Bluebeam experience

    Microsoft Project experience/coursework

OSHA coursework or certifications (OSHA-10/30 or similar exposure)

AutoCAD familiarity (helpful for piping/mechanical coordination)

Mechanical background (internships, field exposure, or related coursework)

    How to Apply

Apply through this posting. Qualified candidates will be contacted for a phone screen followed by an in-person interview with our project team.
