    Job Title: Project Engineer (NWS 00793)

    THIS POSITION IS SHORT TERM, MAX 1000 HOURS IN A CALENDAR YEAR

    North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer's mission. Available employment opportunities may range from administrative and logistical support to advanced technical positions.

    Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

    Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.

    The Strategic Deterrence Directorate has an opening within the Strategic Partnership Projects Office for a Scientist to Provide support to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) SD SPP office for defense industry and weapon system subject matter expertise support to SD SPP initiatives and activities. With minimal supervision, the successful candidate will report to the SD SPP Leader, and support other elements are required and directed.

    _Essential Duties
    _
    - Provide subject matter expertise support related to SPP focus areas and working groups (Warheads, Hypersonics, Missile Defense).
    - Support SD, and other Lab-wide, discussions and activities in expertise areas, with a focus on developing relevance to the national enterprise and securing new project opportunities.
    - Participate in critical analyses/studies to review system architectures and concepts, related technologies, and effectiveness as related to warfighter needs and requirements for shaping LLNL SPP portfolios and messaging.
    - Contribute knowledge of national enterprise for subject expertise areas, and travel as necessary to facilitate LLNL engagement.
    - Perform other job duties as assigned.

    _Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    _
    - Masters Degree in a scientific or engineering field, or the equivalent of 8 years of working in a scientific or engineering role.
    - Expert level knowledge of weapon systems, warheads, and delivery systems.
    - Strong technical leadership abilities and program development experience.
    - Prior experience working with government and sponsor relations and interactions.
    - An active DOE Q clearance.

    _Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    _
    - Access to computing resources both classified and internal unclassified
    - Experience remotely reviewing documents, consulting, and scheduling activities.
    - Experience with travel to areas such as Albuquerque NM, Washington DC, Huntsville AL, and various DOD sites.
    - Ability to work remotely i.e., maintain VPN access to be able to access email and be aware of essential meetings.

    Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job-related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

    Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (position requires an active Q). Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.
