We are partnering with an established commercial general contractor in the San Francisco Bay Area that is looking to add a motivated Project Engineer to its growing team.

This contractor specializes in high-end commercial tenant improvements, renovations, and redevelopment projects across life sciences, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, technology offices, and corporate campuses.

The company offers a unique opportunity for construction professionals who want more responsibility, direct exposure to leadership, and the ability to advance based on performance rather than years spent in a particular position.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day construction operations.

    • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, architects, and project stakeholders.

    • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.

    • Support project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and cost tracking.

    • Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

    • Participate in project meetings and coordinate field activities.

    • Assist with project closeout, inspections, and quality control.

    • Develop the skills necessary to independently manage commercial construction projects.

    Qualifications

    • Construction Management, Engineering, or related educational background preferred.

    • Commercial construction experience preferred, particularly with a general contractor.

    • Exposure to tenant improvements, renovations, or commercial redevelopment is a plus.

    • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    • Motivated to learn, take ownership, and grow into a Project Manager position.

    • Must currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area or within a realistic commuting distance.

    • No relocation assistance available.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • $90,000–$125,000 base salary, depending on experience.

    • Employer-paid health insurance with no employee paycheck deductions for coverage.

    • Company vehicle and gas card available for most Project Engineers.

    • Opportunities for rapid advancement into Project Management.

    • Direct access to company leadership and experienced construction professionals.

    • Collaborative, close-knit company culture.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

Unlike contractors with rigid promotion timelines, this company rewards performance, initiative, and accountability. Individuals who demonstrate the ability to manage projects can advance quickly without waiting years for a title change.
