    APEX Wood Floors is a leading provider of high-quality hardwood flooring solutions, known for craftsmanship, quality, and customer service. We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our team in Lombard, IL, with occasional travel to Chicago.

    Our Project Engineer is primarily an in-office role with occasional site work. This position is ideal for candidates with transferable skills from construction, landscape design, or related industries, including veterans transitioning to civilian careers. We offer mentorship and hands-on training for individuals with a project management mindset and strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the opportunity to grow in the wood flooring and construction industry.

    We offer a base salary range of $65,000 to $80,000, and a competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, 401k with company match, and paid time off.

    Requirements for our Project Engineer:

    • 1+ years of experience in project engineering, project management or a related role.

    • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

    • Strong communication and critical-thinking skills.

    • Experience working with a diverse range of professionals (vendors, tradespersons, clients).

    • Computer savvy with ability to learn new software.

    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (work at Lombard and downtown Chicago/River North offices).

    • Construction or landscape design experience preferred, not required.

    Primary Responsibilities for our Project Engineer:

    • Engineers multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

    • Reviews drawings, specifications, and finish schedules to ensure accurate scope, materials, and installation requirements.

    • Tracks project schedules, lead times, and deliveries to support on-time installation and minimize downtime.

    • Communicates with vendors, manufacturers, installers, and internal teams to resolve questions and field issues.

    • Supports change order pricing, documentation, and approval processes related to scope changes or site conditions.

    • Manages & maintains construction project files and records (digital and hard copies).

    • Other duties as assigned.
