    Project Engineering Manager
    Brooklyn Park, MN | $100,000-$120,000 + Bonus | Direct-Hire | Hybrid

    The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for directing the technical development and execution of water treatment system projects from initial proposal through system startup. This role oversees an engineering team, coordinates cross-functional activities, and ensures that system designs meet performance, quality, and cost expectations. The manager acts as a primary technical authority for both internal teams and customers, providing leadership throughout all phases of design and project delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    Project and Technical Leadership

    • Lead engineering efforts from early proposal review through commissioning, ensuring that project requirements are fully understood, documented, and implemented.
    • Review customer specifications, sales estimates, and engineering assumptions to confirm alignment with achievable technical solutions.
    • Oversee engineering decisions related to equipment selection, sizing, and system arrangement, including pumps, valves, meters, and instrumentation.
    • Provide expert-level input on system hydraulics, water chemistry considerations, and process instrumentation to support troubleshooting, customer discussions, and corrective action planning.

    Design Oversight and Documentation

    • Direct the preparation and review of P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and engineering documentation essential to system design.
    • Validate that fabricated or assembled equipment meets design requirements and supply necessary engineering calculations.
    • Approve final design packages, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and compliance with internal quality standards.

    Supplier and Product Development Support

    • Assist Procurement in evaluating and onboarding new suppliers to broaden equipment offerings and improve capability.
    • Support the development of standardized system components or product families that enhance organizational efficiency and competitiveness.

    Team Management and Development

    • Manage and mentor engineering staff to build a high-performing team focused on accountability, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
    • Participate in hiring, performance discussions, training, and other employee development activities.
    • Foster structured communication within the engineering group and across collaborating departments.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Support customer communication related to engineering decisions or project updates.
    • Participate in internal improvement initiatives or technical reviews as needed.
    • Complete other duties as assigned to support successful project execution.

    Qualifications

    • 5-7 years of experience in water treatment system design, industrial equipment engineering, or related technical fields.
    • 1+ years of experience in team leadership, project coordination, or engineering management.
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar technical discipline.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead design-focused teams and facilitate cross-functional alignment.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks, along with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred or the ability to obtain licensure.
